Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition start met 23 damesploegen / The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will feature 23 women’s teams
De Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition wordt op 19 april voor het vierde achtereenvolgende jaar verreden. Dit jaar leggen de dames wederom 127 kilometer af over hetzelfde parcours als afgelopen jaar.
Koersdirectrice Leontien van Moorsel: “Het vrouwenwielrennen wordt steeds professioneler en vanuit de Amstel Gold Race werken wij daaraan mee door de dames te waarderen op wereldniveau. De dameskoers wordt (gedeeltelijk) verreden over hetzelfde prachtige parcours als de mannen en daarnaast maak ik me hard voor een goede organisatie, reëel prijzen- en startgeld en niet te vergeten voldoende media-aandacht”.
Aan de start staan maar liefst 23 ploegen. Dit zijn er vijf meer dan in 2019. 15 ploegen hebben automatisch startrecht voor deze Womens WorldTour wedstrijd.

Startgeld damesploegen hoger in Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition
Vanwege reglementaire wijzigingen vanuit de UCI keert de Amstel Gold Race dit jaar 10.000 euro meer uit aan startgeld aan de diverse ploegen. Het prijzengeld dat de Amstel Gold Race uitkeert na afloop is sowieso hoger dan de UCI voorschrijft. Hiermee levert de Amstel Gold Race een extra bijdrage aan de ontwikkeling van het dames wielrennen.
De Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition wordt dit jaar wederom door de NOS live uitgezonden op NPO 1.
De dames race start om 10:50 vanaf het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Tijdens de 127 kilometer lange koers passeren de dames onder andere de Eyserbosweg en de Keutenberg. In de finale rijden ze vier lokale ronden waarin de Cauberg, Geulhemmerberg en Bemelerberg zijn opgenomen.
The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will feature 23 women’s teams
The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will be held on April 19th this year. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the women will cover the same 127 km course as previous editions.
Race director Leontien van Moorsel: “Women's cycling is becoming more and more professional and at the Amstel Gold Race we are contributing to this by providing a world-class venue and facilities. The women's race is partly run on the same beautiful course as the men and I have also worked hard to achieve smooth organisation, realistic prizes and starting money, not to mention broad media attention”, says race director Leontien van Moorsel.
This year, 23 teams will line up at the start. This is five more than in 2019. Fifteen teams have an automatic start for this Women’s WorldTour competition.

Starting money for women's teams higher in this year’s Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition.
Due to regulatory changes from the UCI, the Amstel Gold Race will pay 10,000 euros more in starting money to the various teams this year. This is in addition to the prize money that the Amstel Gold Race pays out to the winners, which is already higher than the UCI prescribes. With this gesture, the Amstel Gold Race continues to make an extra contribution to the development of women's cycling.
The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will again be broadcast live this year by NOS on NPO 1.
The ladies race starts at 10:50 from the Vrijthof in Maastricht. The 127 km course takes in a number of iconic Dutch hills including the Eyserbosweg and the Keutenberg. In the final stages of the race they will ride four local laps, which include climbs of the Cauberg, Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg.
